Jeff says I am going to risk getting shot if I add more doggy snow pictures (or being called the crazy dog lady) so if you're sick of seeing my adorable dogs in the snow, skip this blog. The pics are actually just as much for me as my blog friends. I love looking back on them.

This one needs a caption. Cosmo tunneled his way through the snow face first to make this path for himself.

Snow Sucks

Ok. I am pissed.

Snow sucks.

Christmas Eve is always the day we celebrate, open gifts, etc. I am TRYING, with much resistance from my brother, to keep tradition alive.

Since everyone is snowed in, nobody is going anywhere for Christmas. Which means the neighbors are home. I like the neighbors, but apparently my brother likes them better than he likes me. Since they are home this year instead of at their grandma's where they belong, it is painfully obvious where priorities lie.

I did have the forethought to buy stuff for a nice dinner tonight. I got plenty for everyone, so we could share since Donna has a broken ankle and can't really cook.

WELL... I just got informed that we are having feetucine alfredo for dinner. Because THAT is what they have at their house and the only thing her boys trust me to cook, since my cooking is so "bad." Of course when I walked into the house with bacon this morning those two boys had fists full of it and my brother and I didn't get a bite. That's not really the point- Quinn eats over there all the time so I'm not being food posessive. Just that when it suits them my food is fine to eat.

Seriously, though, I am PISSED! I get cheated out of family time AND the dinner I wanted to make? I might actually have to take a stand here and inform them that we are having MY dinner or they can go hungry. I was really looking forward to a quiet night at home with my brother, opening gifts and having a nice dinner. Now he is out on the door step with the neighbors kids greedily waiting for the UPS truck to arrive with gifts (because of course we've been snowed in for 2 weeks so all the gifts had to be ordered online and are late on top of it). What a nice way to ruin Christmas.

Bah Humbug. I hate this, and I am mad.

More Snow Adventures

First, more snow pictures...

These trees don't usually lay on the fence like this!

I hope the roof doesn't cave in from all the snow, holy crap.

This has to be my new computer wall paper because my dog is so cute.

Getting ready to pounce on the snow

Finally, appropriate digging

Well, yesterday was more eventful than I really would have liked. My neighbor and I walked to the store in town for toilet paper, snacks and movies. It seemed a lot safer than driving on a sheet of ice. On our way into town we walked on the fluffy, snowy sidewalk. Well, on our walk back home we discovered that the clever La Center public works crew had decided to scrape the sidewalk... leaving it a sheet of ice.

I was walking with trash bags on my feet so my tennis shoes wouldn't get all wet and cold. Yes, trash bags. I'm a classy gal. All the way, my neighbor Donna was telling me I should not wear trash bags on my feet in the ice because I had no traction. So imagine my guilt when I heard a loud thud behind me and turned to see Donna splattered out on the ice. Not only did Donna fall, she fell good. She broke her ankle!!! In fact, her bone went one way and her foot went the other. Some kind people out 4 wheeling offered her a ride home, and from there she called 911. The fire girls came first, and then the ambulance! Donna got an IV of morphine right there in her living room, and hauled off to the hospital on a stretcher. She apparently broke her bones better than anyone else in the hopital, so she was first in line for surgery last night. Today she came back home, which was a relief to me AND her kids, because we didn't know quite what to do with each other. They were pretty good, though. We cleaned the house for their mom so she could get around easily, and watched movies.

One of my neighbors got out to the grocery store, and thank goodness for my little brother being the kind of kid who hoards cash so we had money to give him to get us groceries. Because NOBODY is getting out to the ATM, lol. Of course the little brat is trying to collect interest from me now (it actually makes me slightly proud that he has such a head for business). So, anyway, now we have all the meat we could possibly need, milk, stuffing and eggs. I should be able to throw together some kind of makeshift Christmas with all that! One of my other neighbors owns a tractor shop, and brought a big tractor home to plow our cul-de-sac with. Of course this turned the cul-de-sac into an ice skating rink, but he meant well!
We're expecting between 4 and 8 inches more of snow tonight. The forecast seems to call for more every time I turn the tv on. So we'll see what tomorrow brings.

Lily and I went out and shook snow off the trees leaning on top of our fence, and they popped right back up off the fence! Lily really enjoyed this, and let the snow fall down on top of her, and snapped at it with her teeth. We also shoveled off the patio so the shorter members of our household could get outside. Cosmo has no manners and it was starting to smell like a kennel right outside the door, because that is as far as he was going, thank you very much!

Cabin Fever

What do you do when you've been snowed in for the past 5 days and are out of books to read? Torture your friends with blogs about nothing in particular, I suppose!

First, let's start with my reading material for the past couple weeks. The Twilight series. Love doesn't quite cover how I feel about these books. They're amazing. My summary really can't do the books justice, so if you haven't read them, really... do. They are set in the Olympic Peninsula, which is a place I've always, always, always wanted to visit. In fact, the Olympic Peninsula was the only place on my must visit list before I head out of town for my new life in the (ugh) city. The area that the book is set in doesn't get as much publicity as the touristy parts, but I absolutely fell in love with the scenery. Now I'm planning a trip there. It's the part that doesn't actually require a ferry ride (the only thing that has stopped my trip for the past year) so this was really perfect timing for me to read these books and figure out where to go. I'm dragging Quinn and Jeff along with me, and we're going to rent a cabin, hike in the rain forest, stroll on the beach, and fish in the ocean. I'm so excited!

Christmas in apparently postponed this year due to bad weather. Not that we do much of anything exciting anyway. I had to finish up my shopping online because we can't get out. This is all old news, though, and I am sick of writing about it.

The last thing I can think to say (not feeling very creative and still tripped out on Nyquil and very tired) is that my belly button makes me sad. When I had my surgery a few months ago, they used my belly button as a point of entry. Who does that?! I have always had a thing with my belly button. I rather like it, but am very protective of it because it grosses me out when people mess with it (you know those messed up people who will stick their fingers right in your belly button). So now my poor little button has a thick red scar that is like a nasty vien. It actually turns white if you run your finger down it, and it itches! I don't think it will ever be normal again, and that makes me really sad and angry!

I think I am about to fall on my face, so... THE END.

Nyquil stupor

I want to know what on earth Nyquil has in it that goes straight to my brain, or my nervous system, or whatever it is that it goes to and makes me very tired and buzzed all at once. I don't think I've felt this way since I was in my early 20s, doing shots after work for hours and hours with the brokers, and passing on the floor of my little apartment with enchiladas baking in the oven and my coat still on. It was an absolute miracle I didn't burn my apartment complex down, get killed on the Max, crash my car in the 3 blocks I had to drive home, or get assaulted in my intoxicated state. Wow I was dumb, 21 and completely bullet proof (or so I thought). Anyway, Nyquil gives me that same feeling, almost immediately, of not quite being able to move my body or think as clearly as I'd like to, and ready to pass out. This stuff should be illegal, except it really helps with my ear ache.

And my ear aches REALLY bad. I think it has something do with the cold weather, and the teenage boys hitting me in the head with stuff. I really dislike teenage boys sometimes. I had an ear ache the other day, and they hit me in the head with a 50mph snow ball, which made my other ear ache, also. Granted I deserved it after taking a cheap shot at my brother with a snow ball while he was on the trampoline. Anyway, I felt better until tonight, when they hit me in the head with a nerf ball. Ear ache again.

Deoderant Poll

Ok, so now that my deoderant poll is closed, I MUST know who voted! I am pretty sure I know who voted "yes" with me... not that I will call you out here on the blog unless you feel like commenting yourself... but seriously, 3 people called me a freak of nature?! Surely I can't be the only person who gets a little scared on the way to work and has to feel their armpits to make sure they remembered deoderant. Really? Am I?!

While we're at it... who has felt their armpits, realized they had actually forgotten their deoderant, and had to stop at the nearest store to rectify the situation before arriving at their destination?

I must just have a lot of very interesting things on my mind in the morning...

Bunny Is Walking!

Very good news! Bunny is putting weight on her bad leg. She even puts her pad down on the ground now, and walks on it. Sometimes it's tippy toes, sometimes it's full pad... but our girl is walking! I don't know why... I am not sure I even care to speculate. She is walking, and seems very happy about it. She even ran through the house today! On all fours! It's not perfect- she still limps and carries her leg at times, and even when she is walking you can still usually tell that leg is not as strong as the rest. It's as close to a normal walk I've seen her do in months, though, and every once in a while she looks like a normal walking dog with no issue. Yay!! Hopefully this just continues to improve. I'll keep everyone posted!
